Savlon Cream is a combination of two antiseptics: Cetrimide and Chlorhexidine Gluconate. They kill infectious microorganisms and effectively clean out cuts and wounds.

Accidental ingestion of Savlon Antiseptic Cream is unlikely to have systemic effects due to poor absorption of chlorhexidine digluconate and cetrimide. However, ingestion of high concentrations may cause esophageal damage and necrosis, resulting in symptoms like nausea and vomiting. Toxic symptoms such as dyspnea and cyanosis, leading to asphyxia, may occur due to cetrimide's depolarizing muscle relaxant properties. Other possible outcomes include hypotension, coma, death, and CNS depression, sometimes accompanied by excitement and convulsions.
